If you're a Wii Fit fan then chances are you're one of the millions of people that watched the "Why every guy should buy their girlfriend Wii Fit" video on YouTube. If you haven't you need to watch it now - that girl knows how to hula them hoops! (Of course I'm referring entirely to her technical hula skills - nothing else.)
Now it looks like her 15 minutes of fame is going to be extended with a report on the MTV Multiplayer blog that she's going to appear on MTV's TRL Show for another session of hula hooping although I somehow doubt that she'll be doing it in her underwear this time.
But all of this hasn't gone unnoticed by sceptics who claim that this was nothing more than a clever viral marketing campaign by Nintendo. This was based on the fact that both Lauren Bernat, the star of the video, and her boyfriend work for Miami-based Tinsley Advertising. They of course deny everything as do Nintendo but who really knows and to be honest, who really cares.
Well actually there is one person that cares. It turns out there's another Lauren Bernat, a master's degree candidate for library science at St. John's University, and she is not amused. As it happens, she's currently in the process of applying for jobs and, as prospective employers with her CV would, a quick Google for the name 'Lauren Bernat' turns up some interesting results. She may find herself getting some alternative job offers.
