clock April 30, 2008 17:36 by author WiiBBG

Battery Pack So you got your shiny new Wii Balance Board home and played it until the batteries died. If only you had a rechargeable battery pack. Fortunately, those guys at Mad Catz have only gone and sorted it and released a battery pack that will give you up to 20 hours of continous balancing fun. The battery pack also comes with a USB cable, compatible with both Wii and PC for convenient charging.

Wii Fit Advertised On Google For £9500

clock April 30, 2008 12:46 by author WiiBBG

Ok I knew that some clever people were going to make money reselling Wii Fit but this is ridiculous! Check out the screenshot below.

Wii Fit

Turns out the poor bloke actually meant £95 (as per his Gumtree ad) but he obviously forgot to add the '.' when he entered the price in Google Base. Any takers?

Wii Fit Tops UK Sales Charts

clock April 30, 2008 12:26 by author WiiBBG

Well no suprises there then. Nintendo has done it again with Wii Fit as UK's leading retailers run out of stock within days of launch. Online stores like Amazon, Play and Zavvi are showing no stock while Game simply allows you to 'register for our Wii Fit stock updates'. Clever independent retailers are also getting in on the action, advertising the game at over £100, that's £30 more than normal retail.

It's estimated that over 200 000 units shipped in the first weekend with highstreet store Woolworths claiming sales of 90 a minute on the day of launch. According to Nintendo "We are doing everything we can to ensure we have as much stock as possible coming into the UK and Ireland not just at launch, but continually, to try and minimise any potential disappointment as much as possible."

Using 2 Wii Boards With Wii Fit?

clock April 29, 2008 17:31 by author WiiBBG

To some, this question may seem a bit premature considering it's difficult enough for most of us to get our hands on one Wii Board let alone two but it's a question I've seen asked. Unfortunately, according to the info on the official UK Wii Fit site, only one Wii Balance Board can be synchronised with a Wii console at any one time so unfortunately it looks like no support for multiple Wii Balance Boards (yet?).

Raving Rabbids Take On Wii Board

clock April 29, 2008 10:27 by author WiiBBG

show youtube Tasty! Check out this latest trailer from Ubisoft. Rumoured to be a teaser for Rayman Raving Rabbids 3, an evil bunny makes light work of a Wii Balance Board. Could this be a subtle hint of things to come? Some would say so but Ubi is saying nothing. We'll most probably have to wait until Ubidays in May before any real facts are revealed.

Don King Presents: Prizefighter Preview

clock April 5, 2008 15:40 by author WiiBBG

Prizefighter Billed by 2k as part sports simulation, part boxing drama this game takes you both inside and outside the ring and follows you in documentary style from boxing newbie to prizefighting champion. Unique to the Wii version of this game will be a Boxercise Mode that takes advantage of the Wii Balance Board to help you with your daily training regime, allowing you to count calories, set fitness goals and measure success. Unfortunately it seems that actual boxing gameplay will only make use of the Wii Remote and nunchuck controllers.

The game will feature 31 current and legendary boxing champs and includes licensed champs such as Joe Calzaghe, Kelly Pavlik and Andrew Golota. There are also 14 fight gyms and arenas including the legendary Madison Square Garden. Multiplayer support is included letting you go up against opponents on the same machine or online.

Prizefighter for Wii is scheduled for release in the UK June 30th and in the US on September 30th. Until then you can visit the official Prizefighter website for more information and video interviews with the great word mangler himself, Don King.

Don King's Prizefighter is available for pre-order at Amazon.com.

Wii Balance Board Game Rumours

clock April 5, 2008 15:00 by author WiiBBG

As with any hot new game or technology release, it’s usually preceded by loads of rumours and conjecture. The Wii Balance Board is no exception and Nintendo has kept everyone guessing since it first revealed the Wii board back in July 2007.

Reggie Fils-Aime, COO of Nintendo US did go so far as to say that over 10 games were already in development but whether he was referring to Nintendo or third-party games is anyone’s guess. Some clever PR which no doubt helped to fuel the rumour mill and so far here’s what’s been tipped for future release:

  • Nintendo 1080° Snowboarding sequel
  • EA Boogie II
  • EA Skate for Wii
  • Namco We Cheer
  • THQ All Star Cheer Squad
  • Rocket Company Wii Exercise (Japanese release)
  • Future Mario titles?

WiiBBG will of course be keeping a close eye on things and will report any future development on these and other games.
